when placing eggs in a tubberware for incubation, why is it recommended to space them out? Why not just put them close together and even touching like they are naturally? It would also save space so you could put more eggs in the same container

If they are touching when one hatches they will likely all hatch. When spaced apart they will hatch more individually. IMHO that means each one will hatch when it's ready and not be "forced" to hatch all at once as is necessary in the wild so they can dig out of the hole.

I will also point out that if you add new eggs to a container of already incubating/established eggs, when the older eggs hatch it will cause premature hatching of the new eggs and if they aren’t ready, then you will lose that clutch. It’s not pretty. Always use separate containers for different clutches of eggs.
