Eggs are hatching

Chamalot Chameleons
This is very exciting! :D

Today I came home and nonchalantly checked my Ambilobe eggs not really expecting to see anything.. And to my SUPPRISE I saw one little head poking out of an egg!! I almost fainted!

It is my first clutch.. I have 14 eggs in all. They where laid on August 26th (the day after my birthday)

I have been home for half an hour now.. and The baby has not moved very much. I think I see him moving slightly but his eyes are still closed.

How long does it usually take for them to fully come out of the egg? There is still minimal movement and his eyes are still closed (still looks just like the picture)

It can take days. Literally. I think I've had them sit in there for at least 4 days and then come out just fine. SOmetimes they will poke out and then actually withdraw back into the shell for a few days.

Some of my veiled take all day or over night to come out. One had it's head out and went back in, didn't come out until the next morning!! Shocked me.

Congrats

Awwww! That's so exciting to see the first sign of the chameleon. Congratulations to you!

I bet it takes a lot of times watching clutches hatch out to not get excited about them any more. I don't know how many clutches that takes though. Must be a lot!

Congrats! Baby ambilobes are so cute. They have a tendency to stay dark for about a week or so and then start to lighten up. At least the ones I have are doing that.

I have moved him to a small tank with sticks and a plant. He was very anxious to get out of the hatching bin. He is very active now!

I have some fruit flys for him but I was thinking I should wait until tomorrow to give him any because it is so late now 10:30 pm here in Florida

I'll set him up in a bigger screen cage tomorow.... with any siblings I may have :D

I would keep them in there so they can find the fruit flies easily. They wont start eating flies for a couple of days. Not to mention babies need the humidity that cage will provide.

ok, I just set up the screen cage for standby then. Its not a very large screen cage.

What about lighting? Should I just go with a uvb light? Right now, I have no lights on him at all. I know babys can get overheated easily.
