sorry to type a post that many will have already asked but im confused.
my yemen chameleon is abotu one and a half nearly two and she has not laid eggs in the past 8 months ive had her and the pet shop owner said she had not laid any with him. She has completely changed in these two weeks, after her last shed she ate like crazy and then stopped just last week and began pottering around the soil in her hibiscus. She feels very fat and it is now apparent. This morning she drank like crazy, a lot more than usual and was a bit more willing to bite me yet she stayed an almost luminous green and was showing turquoise blue spots. she has never shown blue colours before and has never openly tried to bite me. what can i do to help her lay, thats if she is ready??? :S confused!!!

I know they need a bin with an egg laying medium like damp sand at least 12 inches deep. Someone with female veileds can answer that question a lot better than I can.

Check out this site though. http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/ It has good info in general, and also tells you a way to help keep them from cycling, if you are not planning on breeding her.

My female laid her eggs about 5 months ago. I tried a plastic tub with damp clean soil in it for her but she was afraid of the tub it seemed. My husband then suggested that we just put the soil in her enclosure around her ficus tree ..... she was much happier and laid two days later. She also drank a lot of water and the blue/turquoise spots are a definate sign. Make sure the soil is damp enough to keep it's shape so that her tunnel will not collapse on her.
