Egg Laying box

Hi I wasn'y sure how to sit a set up a egg laying box so this is what i got so far its a 5 gal bucket almost filled with play sand. I dont know what to do after this so please help.

Are you putting it in the cage or will it be outside the cage?

I use a flower pot of sand/dirt mix and pot it in the enclosure with them

How are you going to know when to put her in it??
