Egg laying bin help

My Veiled is 4 months old and has never layed a clutch yet but I wanted to be prepared so I set up a tall pot in her enclosure full of moist soil that is very fine and safe from our forest ...anyways she has been eating it ...we caught her 2 times and yesterday we got real worried because she wasn't eating as usually...today I found 2 poops that were gritty and clearly were full of that dirt and she was back to semi-normal eating. I since covered the pot until my boyfriend can lift it out of the enclosure...I am just afraid I will miss the signs when she needs to lay eggs...does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you Kelly

Others should be able to help you with why she is eating the dirt. I believe it can be cause by a nutritional deficiency but I'm sure there other causes as well. I don't have any first hand experience with my females eating dirt but I've read that it shouldn't hurt them if they are able to pass it which from the sounds of it she was able to.

As for your laying bin concern, at 4 months old you should be fine. She most likely isn't ready to be laying just yet, does she have her mature colors patterns yet?

What do you supplement with, and how often>

What bugs do you feed?

How do you gutload?

How much are you feeding her?

Veils are much easier to identify when pregnant, than say a panther or jax. there is usually no question about it. a small and cheap digital scale ($38) will help eliminate some guesswork. try to monitor your supplements.
