my veiled eggs were laid on april the 1st and today i noticed that two or three got a little yellow i threw most of the infertile ones away but have a few left and then a few days ago one fertile one deflated so i added more water and it stood the same and now its turning yellowgreen to its a small patch of that color and they look like they are getting little mildew patches or something. any one no why this could be happening? about 5-7 of them have those little mildew patches.

sometimes the substrate thats stuck on the egg will mold. or is it the egg its selfe? if so mybe too much moisure?

:confused:i would just dust it off one of the eggs that has the mold on it and see if its the shell molding or the sand mix. thats all i can think of it being if they are fertile. hope this helps

ok i put powderless gloves on and didnt turn them sideways because i know they have to stay in that position once theyre laid and i dusted all the sand of all the eggs to prevent anymore of those blotches i think it was the sand because the sand i had in a container was all wet and turned that same black/white color

What are u using vermiculite, hatchnrite, perlite, and you can move the eggs they will be fine. The egg that deflated was probably infertile too.

How much water is in the vermiculite?
Can you post pics of your egg set-up and such so we can get a better idea of what is going on with them? And give us any extra info you think matters, like incubating temps, what room the eggs are in, etc.

i had a couple eggs grow mold on the soil they were laid in that was stuck on the eggs and thats what got moly was the soil not my eggs thats why i suggested brushing thenm off because this happened to me also.

ok im incubating at 65-77, i let the temps drop at night because i here that studies say if you give it night time drop in the 60's at night and 70's in the day youll have a higher percent hatch right

but heres pics of my PROFESSIONAL :p incubator

Im sorry your stressed and not getting answers.
I dont think I can help, we had eggs laid on the 4th April and we are using the same substrate as you. Ours are in plastic containers and in a incubator.
We have a few moldy eggs but they haven't collapsed, just got fuzzy. We assumed it means these ones are not fertile. But we haven't thrown anything away as the eggs don't look bad....just hairy lol.

This is our first time as egg carers so we are terrified lol. I hope someone can help out. Good luck

thanks i saw an old thread to wipe the eggs with hydrogen peroxide and rinse it with water and out it back in so i did that and there all shiny and look good some look a little stained but i candled one and saw the veins the crazy thing is i have the tiniest egg witch is not that calcified and it has the most biggest vein along with a few other veins

im not sure but i have always had my eggs in sandwich tubs with holes poked in the top do you hae and type of lid for the egg container its self why the heat pad they might be getting too hot 80 is the highest i ever let my eggs get and thats hot try that maybe plasic wrap over the top with ittle holes maybe lower temps maybe not sure.
