Egg Bound ???Re-Absorption??? HELP

Today is a sad day. I took Miss Piggy to the vet as she was not doing well.

I had no other options other than surgery or euthanizing.

I released her to Dr. Greek. Dr. Greek took her and is going to attempt surgery on Monday. That is if she will make it through the weekend. He has a Sr. vet student coming in.

At the very least maybe someone can learn a little from her and save some lives in the future. I am devastated. It is so difficult to see these little ones pass. I feel we did all we could do and we are hoping for the best. We will find out sometime on Monday if she makes it.

I have a female Panther that had gone through reabsorbtion of her eggs
years ago, She got super fat and I thought she was ready, when she qiut
eating also. Well She never even tried to lay the eggs, and assumably reabsorbed them. During this time, as you say "she remained very heathly, happy looking." But due to the reabsorption she did not eat for possibly over a month. = Well 4 years later I still have her, and many succsesfull egg laying events since. She is tough, even for her age looks very well today! So yes I would assume absorption is possible, but if the Lizard shows any signs of stress or pain GET to the Vet!

She made it

I got some great news this morning.

Miss Piggy made it through surgery and is doing great!

I am so relieved and happy she is doing well. She will not be coming home as I released her to Dr. Greek. I am just relieved she made it. I will be sure to follow up with him as to her progress.

Thanks for all the kind words.

Yeah

Ryan,
That's great news. Hopefully she will need a good home soon and who better than you? We missed you guys at the meeting!

Glad to hear she is doing well. Just curious, when they did the surgery to remove the eggs did they spay her as well? I am thinking of spaying my veiled cham, she is also having an egg problem.
