I paid right around $200 for EVERYTHING I needed, including shipping. I got a "used - like new" $400 microscope for $120 off amazon.

If you happen to be near the Tampa area, I'll be glad to run the floats... not that I'm ever, but I can identify coccidia.
 
Okay. So today I went to vet, wouldn't give me the medicine without a physical, drove back, got amaro, drove back, they did the physical, he looked healthy, told me the fecal showed medium-high counts of coccidia, gave me the medicine, drove to the supply store, picked up liquid 40 volume peroxide, drove back, gave him his first dose, and now here I am. Should I give him a day to calm down, or start sanitizing his cage and stuff with the peroxide? Do I use it by itself, or mix it with boiling water?

They gave me ponazurill, said give him one dose of .1ml (hes 41 grams) now, then another in 2 weeks. Then they said get a fecal done 2 weeks after the last dose.

Sounds normal for the meds and the fecal after. Are you injecting feeders or giving directly? Personally if they are saying medium to high counts I would start treatment now.

Do not mix the peroxide with anything. Did you get gloves and a spray bottle for it? Make sure you where glasses if it is at all windy you do not want it blowing into your face. Also wear clothes you do not care about and wash them right after to remove the peroxide.

I had to give it directly, he wouldn't take it with a feeder. Hes going up to bask right now, actually. I just put the medicine in the very front portion of his mouth, so it would go on his tongue. Doesn't seem phased.

So you mean I should clean now?

And yes, I will wear gloves while using it. I have a spray bottle for it too.

Do you still have his other cage? It would be less stressful for him each week I think if you can rotate between the two cages. That way you always have one ready. Then he is not stuck in a box. Otherwise I would wait to rip it all apart until Sunday. Let him relax and settle since he has already had to deal with a lot today. Get him eating, drinking, and basking. Normal schedule.
 
What other cage? This is the cage he's always had.

He drinks really well, and just basked for a little bit till I disturbed him by walking around. He may have eaten a tiny bit today.

I feel bad for him, he's so dark and stressed from being in a box yesterday for 3 hours, and then today for 2 hours.

I thought you had a smaller cage from when you first got him. My mistake. Then you will want to let him relax a bit. I would not take everything apart until Sunday.

It is hard to see them stressed and upset. Just remember he is strong and you caught this before any major issues happened. From everything you told me about him... The only thing that concerned me was that his appetite was not as high as most babies. Otherwise normal lil man. Your doing great. :)
 
after the first 2 weeks he has been eating normal, around 6-10 medium crickets, sometimes he'll even eat 15 and up on some days. Im gonna expect to not eat quite as much, maybe around 4-6 per day, for the days after I rip apart his cage. . Thats how much he normally eats when he's stressed.

Yeah, he is a sturdy boy with lots of sass.
 
Okay so i'm currently cleaning Juno's (young beardie) logs and sticks and rocks ect ect. How should I go about cleaning his cage with the peroxide? I cant move his cage outside.

Juno is the one that hasn't ever been treated or tested- he's the culprit

I would not clean his cage with the peroxide. Because you are not treating him for it he will continue to contaminate it anyways. Just use soap and hot water if you want to clean it. Make sure you are cleaning really well after. Wiping all surfaces. Once you start cleaning like this if you do not have a designated area for contamination you end up exposing more areas to the oocysts. retrace your steps and wipe down everything.
 
Yes, I wiped down my whole bathroom with the peroxide, let it sit for 15 minutes, then wiped it down twice with water and dried it. The bathroom is now free of the coccidia. What should I do for around my room, bleach? Soap? Both? I need to wipe down the reptile shelf, and the stand amaro is on, and the floor around him, and the "contaminated' corner I established in my room.

So your really just needing to wipe from the surfaces... You could use soapy hot water. Wipe to remove with paper towels. For things like light switches get a little alcohol on a cotton ball and wipe away. Your highest exposure is in the cage which is why your using the peroxide there. To kill off. Everything else becomes cleaning cleaning cleaning. :(

The only reason I used peroxide for the bathroom is because thats where I cleaned his stuff yesterday. Didn't think bleach or soap would've been enough

I totally understand! I was a cleaning freak for weeks. I was absolutely obsessed with getting rid of it. You got this girl!
 
Thanks. Im sure I will be crazy-cleaning for weeks as well lol.

Currently sanitizing his drainage bucket, and his travel bin with peroxide, and throwing out the towel that was under the drainage bin. Its definitely a process lol
 
Just finished cleaning for the day. Tomorrow or Sunday I will re-clean amaro's cage with the peroxide.

Should I use peroxide on the walls around amaro's cage, or soap and water?
