Edema on baby panther :(

I have a baby panther cham that I bought from Screameleons, he is 4 months old. I have noticed that his neck is starting to get a little swollen, but not very noticeable. I think this might be an Edema.

I was reading that over supplementing with D3 might be one of the causes. I'm currently using this method, from Screameleons.

FOR JUVENILES KEPT INDOORS

Rep-Cal Calcium w/ D3 every other day
Herptivite dust crickets twice a week...

I think it might be a lot of D3 for the baby, but I don't know. Also he was getting a little dehydrated but i fixed right away and his urine is starting to look better.

Any recommendations? I'm freaking out.

Yes i'm so stupid, most of the times I was dusting the crickets were all caked, I will stop supplementing and increase the water intake.

Repcal calcium with D3 has a ton of D3 compared to Zoomed calcium with D3. If you want to continue using the RepCal, use it less frequently and use the calcium without D3 in its place a couple times a week. At 4 months , you could also reduce the herptivite by half.

But for the short term, stop any supplementation for 5 days.

ive seen alot of breeders say the same thing with the supplements. anyone know why? they obvisouly know how to care for chameleons. specially screameleons they have some awsome chameleons!

i dust lightly, and what i mean by that is i get all the crickets on one side of the cup then i pinch a bit of the supplement then "sprinkle" it over them.

heres is how i do my supplements

ist week of the month
mon-fr =cal without D3
sat = nothing
sun= cal with D3

2nd week of the month

mon-fr =cal without D3
sat = nothing
sun= Herpivite

3rd week of the month
mon-fr =cal without D3
sat = nothing
sun= cal with D3

4th week of the month
mon-fr =cal without D3
sat = nothing
sun= Herpivite

Here's the only pic i could take without him freaking out, can you guys see it? It is little but noticeable.

Its a common mistake to coat the insects too heavily. Looks like you've already corrected that. Your solution to use less supplement and increase water seems a good plan to me.:)
Consider also adding juciey feeders like silkworms, cabbage loppers and hornworms, for a boost of hydration.

I have asked Vincent at Screameleons this many of times. Just last week I asked him about it again. The info. seems to vary every where and there isn't one way of doing it. He said he rarely ever sees a D3 overdose when used correctly and he swears by both Repcal phos. free w/ Vit. D and herptivite. His chameleons are amazing and he is very educated in panther chameleons. The trick is however, to lightly dust the feeders and you should have no problems. I was doing it just as Vincent recommended and have never had a health issue. However, because of all the overdose concerns I have changed my supplement schedule almost identical to corpsman. Good luck I hope the bulge goes down! Sounds like Vincent already told you not to make the feeders look like ghosts after you put the supplements on them.

Haha yes he used those exact words. I'm going to change my schedule like that too, any recommendations in what type of calcium powder to get?
