I went to the vet with my cousin the otherday because he called me and said his cham fell which is a baby from my last clutch of veileds. Any way he thought he had broke his leg so I went over to check out the chamand he looks to me like he has mbd the vet said he is still young and has soft bones he probably broke it on his fall she gave him metcam and asked to keep her updated. I still don't believe he don't have mbd. She says he is not a candidate for mbd as he has 5.0linear bulb and 40 w basking bulb lots of foliage he has everything covered anyway. I went shopping with him before he picked up the cham just over a month ago.maybe 2 months actually. Anyway here is a pic of the handsome guy at the vet his name is homer.

Im guessing the bulb was garbage out of the box . Can a cham get mbd over a two month period? He got him in Sept and he was not liked this for sure. And his husbandry is perfectly fine. I have look over everything we went and bought a new bulb and offering more calcium we picked up liquid calcium for him.

I'm no expert but those limbs look a bit funky to my eyes, too.
Maybe your cousin was too embarassed to admit to either you or the vet that he hasn't really followed your care instructions closely.
Maybe you're right and the bulb is NG or perhaps there is something blocking UV between the bulb and the cham or it is too far away from the cham's favorite hangout.
The only real way to test the bulb is with a UV meter.
Maybe Homer is/was kept at too low temps to absorb enough nutrients during his months of rapid growth.
Maybe he has a higher personal need for calcium than is usual.
Maybe he has parasites which can also cause MBD to occur.
Maybe your cousin got mixed up and dusts daily with calcium with D3 instead of using calcium w/o D3 daily

Here is just about all anyone might want to know about MBD--except for why a specific cham developed it ;)

And if that still isn't enough info:

Tthats excatly what i was going over in my head as i was looking at him all the different reasons no blockage of light its also within 6-8 inch of his spot he likes but i did mention the fact he could just be different as far as calcium nutrients needs. Thanks for the extra info much appreciated
