Dust on Umbrella Tree?

Seriously, it is just old nursery wax (possibly with a combination of hard water deposits on top), but it is for sure mostly scuzzy half-on, half-rinsed-away nursery wax. Just rub it off. You won't have problems with it again.

By the way guys, hard water wouldn't stick to plant leaves like that on its own, though deposits might build up slightly on top of the wax.

this is mainly on the leaves on the bottom.

This bit proves that it is wax- all of the leaves without it are new growth from after the wax was applied. (this growth happened after the plant was shipped to the store)

Don't assume that all white on leaves coming from the nursery is this wax. I have no clue what that wax is, but when I inquired about the white on the leaves of the plants I purchased at my Home Depot. I spoke to the vendor that supplied them as she was unloading plants. She told me that was a pesticide they used.

Also after I wiped it all off. I've seen just about the same thing posted here from my water. The amount of deposits left on the leaf really depends on how high the KH of the water is. Where I live our water is basically liquid rock.

In the end IMHO it's better safe than sorry and remove any residue on plants, regardless of what it may or may not be.

okay thanks guys. your both right. :D and for cleaning I would just rub off all of the stains with water and soap?

Sorry, I wasn't trying to say Kenya was wrong. "Today, 03:41 AM " things tend to not come out right at those hrs.

Yes just use soap and water with a soft cloth. It can take a little wile so just find a way to get comfortable. Even if it is hard water deposits, unless they are caked on it, it should just wipe off.
