hey, "neighbor!" i live in Tinley Park, and i'd say for most of the time during summer as far as temp and humidity goes, it'd be fine... most of the time. we have pretty screwy weather changes here. plus birds, squirrels, racoons, etc might attack it or damage your cage trying to get to it. not even mentioning the possibility of parasites. as a long term thing, your just giving yourself a headache. but we get perfect weather for most if not all chams to chill outside for a few hours of real sunlight. my oldest veiled spent a third of the summer just hanging out on my balcony garden, peeping at the neighbors and cars.
if they were to stay outside. the cages will also be bugs proof.

I am in Bolingbrook and my chams are outside a good chunk of the day during the summer - but only when one of us is home. We have the cages on racks (indoors) that have wheels and we just roll the racks right outside and move them around depending on where the sun/shade is. If you have outdoor caging, you should be fine, but I would not suggest leaving them out 24/7 and I would only do it when you can be around in case anything happens. There are just too many variables around here and the temps and humidity can get pretty extreme and hurt your chams if you're not careful.
And one more thing - be sure to put them in caging if you are taking them outside. Don't just put them on a plant. Next thing you know, we will be seeing a thread from you saying "....I turned my back just for a minute and now he's gone....". We have all done it and it sucks. If the cham is in a cage, you can turn your back for that minute and chances are, it will still be there when you return (within reason, of course)

I live in michigan and have my chameleons outside as soon as the night temps rise above 60 and the daytime temps are in the upper 70's and they stay outside until it get cold again. Mine seemed to thrive outside as long as there were precautions taken. for example on hot days plenty of dripper refills and extra mistings ARE needed. and if the nighttime temp gets into the fifties at all I like to put towels on at least 3 sides and a ceramic heater on top to warm it up a few degrees so it isn't too cold with the winds. good luck.

Wow look at all the people from Illinois here. I also put my cham outside, in a separate cage, but usually only when im home or will be gone for a short while. I bring him in in the evening tho because I do not want anything to happen.
