Dubias

when you keep them in the bins do they need any steady airflow ??

ventilation is always good. I just poked holes in the side and top and they seem to be doing fine! I also have the nymphs in an open top container. I used packing tape on the interior towards the top.

ive got 3 leopard geckos that are ravenous feeders im sure i could get rid of any surplus :)

There is a guy in my building that keeps Leopard geckos and one of them was on a hunger strike. I let him try a few small dubias and the Leopard took them right away!!

He now buys 100 count nymphs from me weekly ( only thing keeping him from getting a starter colony is his wife, lol)He tells her the nymphs are pillbugs. lol:rolleyes:

Hope that ur boy likes 'em! Good luck! Oh and remember, WARMTH + DARKNESS + ORANGES = happy breeding!!! :D

Also some good protein crushed something and fresh veggies when you think about it...but dont leave the veggies in their more than 1 day! :D:D:D

My colony isn't to large and the carrots I put in there are almost all read gone in less then a day. Just got some clementines. Can't wait to see how they go!

Sounds good let me get my list started haha

What are nymphs and what are clementines?
Why do you need to separate them?
What would be a good started colony size and how fast will it grow *i don't want to over breed*.
How long does it take for the babies to fully develop?
Is it okay to use supplements on them like crickets?
What's a good way to keep their enclosures humid? I live in SoCal so maintaining heat isn't really an issue.

That's about all I can think of right now :)

What are nymphs and what are clementines? The nymphs are what you call young roaches.

Why do you need to separate them? You don't have to separate them, most people do just for ease of finding roaches of a certain size to feed off.

What would be a good started colony size and how fast will it grow *i don't want to over breed*. I usually sell a "starter colony" with 10 adult females,6males,30 large nymphs and about 150 mixed small nymphs. With heat, food and time you should start seeing reproduction in a matter of weeks. And established in a few months.

How long does it take for the babies to fully develop? I honestly don't keep track because I have soo many, but I'd say 3 months from born to adult.

Is it okay to use supplements on them like crickets? Yes, they should be gutloaded well with fruits and veggies along with commercial gutloades.

What's a good way to keep their enclosures humid? I live in SoCal so maintaining heat isn't really an issue. I usually have an issue keeping himidity down. It is a steady 60% as is. When I feed with fruits and veggies the humidity goes up, sometimes to over 100% (in this case I'd leave the lid off to help vent better).

All I have on my bin for aeration is a 4x8" cutout in the lid with screen glues over it.
That's about all I can think of right now :)

Hope this helps......
