ok so i wanted to feed him the dubias i got yesterday so i picked the smaller ones ! when i opened the cage he charge to me targeted my arm , i was wtf is he doing , when i realised was to late....on my arm was a medium-adult size dubia . he got it so damn fast , he got it from behind , he swallowed half of it but he coudnt swallow the head . at this time i was freaking out so hard !!! i tried to pull it out from him but i was scared the bug will scratch his throat ...i let him be like 2-3 min( in this time my heart was like 250 b/min) he still couldnt swallow him so i risked and tried to pull it our gently . i broke a pice of the bugs head - median portion that was the widest , after that he could swallow him ! after that i gave him a mealworm to see how he will swallow and it was ok,he drank some water !omfg this were 5 mins of pain and agony ! so right now he is basking , nothing weird about him . his throat looks normal, belly normal, he is just angry becose i tried to get the bug out , or at least that i was trying so !

my question is ... will he be ok? can he die? will he puke it? can this affect his digestive system ? :( damn im so stupid but i didnt see the damn bug walking on my hand !!! pls tell me what do to next , or what could happen, or anything ! IM SCARED !!!! he is 5 months old !!!

he walk 2-3 min in the cage and pooped - i guess his is a good sign and right now he is basking ! will the 24-48 h be critical ? am i over reacting ? is he doing to be ok?

I think he will be fine! This has sort of happend to me but i didnt pull it out or anything just left him to munch it and he loved it lol and he is fine an that was months ago, they say not to feed them big feeders wider than the width of there head, but thats all the time i think this odd one will be fine, just obviusly dont feed him big feeders! But u didnt do it on purpose! And surely in the wild they do this too! There not gonna come across a big bug and think naa thats too big and its wider than my head r they ! Lol but just keep an eye on him but tbh i think he should be okay, cant help but worry can you! :)

should i feed him more today (proper sized bugs)? or just let him digest the big one for today ?

No problem!

You cant help but worry my little man has had me in this possistion so many times!! But often its just us owners worrying too much!
How big was this bug? Could u get a pic mayb? I think he will be fine! And i wouldnt worry too much try hand feed him see if he will take anymore, like u said tho hes just took a mealworm off u after that so it didnt bother him much did it! Lol if it did he probs would of eaten anymore after that, see if he will take some small one off u not alot tho :)

I don't think he was having trouble swallowing, but sometimes they get stuck with a feeder in their mouth, staring at you. Like they forgot they were chewing and remember that you're there, and they're not sure how they like you yet. Even my big panther male will do it, and there is no feeder size he won't try to eat.

In my experience, if a chameleon feel like he can't handle a feeder he will spit it out. When Daedalus was younger, for example, I gave him a full-grown hornworm and when he tried chewing it and wasn't liking the experience he spit it back out. Others have the done the same thing. Now he's big enough that he loves the big 4' hornworms.

Don't get so nervous! :) These guys may be a little delicate but they aren't made out of glass.

tnx for the fast response ! yep i guess i over react to much ! im glad he will be ok ! never happened this before so i was scared ! thank you again :D
