Hello guys!

It's been a while since I posted something (maybe not :p). Anyways I am planning on buying dubia roaches because crickets are making my room smell like a dirty smelly ass cheek. I was looking through some websites and please pardon my caps but 10 DOLLARS FOR 25 DUBIA ROACHES  ??!??!?!?!?!?!?! (on mulberry farms) This is such a rip off! There is no way that I am going to feed my chameleon like 10 dubia roaches every day... So here are my questions. Why are they so much money? how many would I feed a 6 1/2 month veiled chameleon? Would I just buy 25 first then wait for them to breed?(i heard they breed fast) How fast do they breed? Please answer as many as you can and thanks

That sir, is why i dont breed roaches.
and while i cant tell you why its that much, the idea is you should buy them, set them up to breed, and wait. i dont know how lon git takes to get an established colony thats big enough to feed off and keep it growing. youll have to talk to experience roach breeders on that.

adn youd feed your veiled roughyl whatever he eats in crickets now.

You should check the classifieds, I know i've seen 100 for 20$

Buy from classifieds, mulberry is a rip off. Try the roach ranch....Adult females lay between 30-40 live young a month. With 5males and 20 females your colony will grow pretty fast. The only thing is you'll have to wait to feed them off, only like 2-3 months. Also, make sure your cham will eat dubia, not all chams will.

Ya I just got the 25 from mulberry and theyre way too big for my guy. My fault on the size but I feel like classifieds might have better options

It's not a bad investment though. You spend $10-20 to start up and then never have to pay for them again, you just have to wait a few months for them to breed. I can't have them in Florida but they do breed really well when it's warm. In 4 months you should have hundreds.

So i need two feeders? Dubias while they breed and crickets to feed? Feeding chameleons is more expensive than feeding both of my dogs :/

I guess you would. I always have at least 6-7 feeders in the house though - I breed 4 types of roaches and superworms. And then I buy in crickets and butterworms or hornworms.

If you can get a few roaches breeding and some superworms breeding, then your feeder costs go way down in the following months, because you can buy fewer crickets or buy them less often.

dubias are cool, I bought a colony when i got my cham. They large one kind of creep me out, Im not scared of bugs at all but they are alittle BIG! And the sound they make when they are crawling around in the bin is priceless! I keep mine on a heating pad to keep the temps up! My cham loves the nymphs.
