Dry Gutload Mixed In With Calcium

So this happened kind of by accident. I use a dry powdered gutload made by Bruce at Chameleon Paradise. I use Rep Cal w/ out D3 daily on my feeders. What I usually do is put a pinch of the green gutload in a deli cup then add about 10 or so crickets. Today instead of taking crickets out and putting them into another deli cup with the calcium, I put the calcium in while there was still gutload left. I swished them around and they got dusted with calcium and the gutload. Ego ate all the crickets today and they all had both gutload and calcium on them (and assumably had gutload in them). Does anyone see a benefit to this? Is he getting more vitamins etc from the gutload along with getting calcium?
Thank you all.

without knowing the ingredients it’s hard to tell, but unlikely to have any consequences one time. as for repeated use, it depends on the ingredients but obviously it’s not “meant” to be given this way. in most cases i really can’t see major harm from small amounts. however, it’s also not as if anyone has ever advised squirting water mixed with a gutload down a sick cham’s throat to sustain them since it’s just not what they need to survive. fwiw, i cut whichever calcium/D3 powder i’m using with SuperPig 1:1. but Allen specifically states that SuperPig can be used at any level of the feeding process; fed to feeders, mixed into other gutload like his Bug Burger, dusted, or all the above. i’ve even heard of folks mixing it into their fruit fly media, but i’ve never done that.

Bruce is a very sharp guy, he makes his gut load himself. I use it and could not imagine it having any adverse affects on your Cham!!! In fact I think it could only benefit there health but if you are not sure call him and ask him. He will shoot you straight. You can learn a lot from him if he has time to talk!!!

Yes, I like talking to him. I will call and see what he thinks

I can assure you that Bruce's gutload has far more beneficial ingredients than superpig. However, superpig is still a GREAT product. Bruce, was buying DinoFuel at wholesale in large quantities and spoke to me about what he was doing to make a powdered gutload. He uses tons of super foods and all of which are organic and I know he isn't using carrageenan or other junk. There are no preservatives in his gutload and you can't go wrong. The number of organic ingredients he was using was simply amazing. He is making great stuff, just not commercially marketing it. Just like with DinoFuel, Bruce's gutload will work as a dust too. Mixing it with calcium will not hurt anything. The trick is to not over do the calcium powders.

Love to hear that thank you for the info.

I just emailed Bruce just to see what his opinion is on it. If he thinks its beneficial and it saves me a step in the feeding process then hooray!

Just had a nice conversation with Bruce on the subject. It doesn't seem that there will be an issue with me dusting the crickets with the gut load he provides along with the calcium as long as they are ingesting it as well. That's the key. I like the way Bruce says it. He says when in doubt, think about what happens in nature and follow that. Good advice!
