I have been using a cup with a hole through the bottom placed on top of the cage. The cup is dripping through the screen onto the leaves in the cage. i never saw my cham drink until the other day when i replaced the water and he shot his tongue at the screen where the water is coming through, as if trying to catch food. This makes me think that he drinks like this alot. Won't this damage his tongue?

i saw my chameleon does that once in a while.
But, he is more of a leaves lapper. I think he shoot his tongue because he's too lazy to move to a better spot.
Personally, i do not worry too much about it.
But, if you really worried about the possibility, you can buy the zoomed little dripper. They have a small tube that you attach. Cut the top screen slightly and insert the tube.
