Dripper system,

Hi all only had my chameleon under 2 weeks or so, and have misting the viv about 2-3 times a day, and have seen it drink numerous times,

But i am setting up a dripper system currently. i thought i would try a different method than the cup, and have today brought one of them hozelock killa sprays, asme one as this.

http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/ho/hozelock-killaspray-pressure-sprayer--1-25.jpg

I have also got some small bore tubing the stuff they use in fish tanks, i am thinking of joining this to the end of the nozzel then a tap on the end which will be nearly shut, and create a dripping, i have seen something similar on here or the net the other day but cant find it, has any1 tried this method, thanks:)

And presumably propping the spray bottle upside down? - I don't see why it wouldn't work. You probably won't have any trouble finding a nozzle for the fish tank tubing, but if you do, you can use adjustable clamps (the kind you can tighten or loosen by turning a screw).

clamps a good idea thanks, i looked for a nozzle today, but think i have the wrong one now, i want to make it up tommorrow as im back to work soon, i dont think it will need to be upside down, i can leave it on the floor, and the tubing will go up into my viv and onto some leaves, as the bottle is a pump one so the iar pressure will force the water up. but will need something to slow it down at the end to create a drip. like clamps thanks :)

I have one of these.. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51baOBIc+-L._SL500_AA280_.jpg

I have the smaller one. I went through 3-4 different hand made drippers and couldn't get one to constantly drip right or I couldn't control it. I would say just to buy one of these instead of making one. They should cost around 5-10 dollars at a pet store. (mine cost $6.40)
When I bought it, the tubing inside the dripper is like 4-5inches long lol. So I went to a hardware store and bought 4 foot (some for extra) and it works fine. If you do buy tubing make sure to take the piece thats in the dripper to the hardware to match it.

I would do this..after trying I am finally relaxed on the dripper. He drinks it always:D

I made this one to come on with the lights and go off with the lights.
My chams have never been more hydrated.

That looks good, so the water does not stay in cage. goes into a tub outside the cage, i take it they just drink from the tube itself?

Ok just don't spend to much money. If everything your getting is worth as much as that dripper its not worth making;)

Okay, I'm a girl, so dumb question. You said it comes "on" do you have an electric pump? Could you post a pic of the water source? I assume you have the extra drip into a tub, bottle or something?

I have containers in both my cages to catch drips from the dripper. Not as elaborate as Todnedo's though! Tommy has an empty squash bottle with the neck cut off and Amy has a spaghetti holder. I cover both with fine netting so they can't fall in.

The dripper is connected to an R.O. unit
The drain line goes to a floor drain.
I do mist the chams a few times a week for good eye health.

Isnt misting enough??

I am planning for one Panther Chameleon in one enclosure.

I have been shopping around for a misting system and it seems that I am running into these Extremely low tech bottles with tubing that drip (for less than $20.00), or Super Whamo-dyne ($189.00) units that can mist a bunch of cages all at once.

I would really love a mister unit that is designed for one Cham enclosure only, but would have a timer so Zippy could get watered while I am at work during the day.
I dont think a Low tech $15.00 unit will help me because it has no timer and, therefore no way to turn on or off during the day when I am gone.
I also dont want sonething designed to mist 20 enclosures either. I suppose I could live with the over-kill if there were a way to adjust the flow characteristics down to just one enclosure rather than 20.

I leave for work at 0600 and get home around 1730 (5:30PM) I work about 35 miles from home and cannot drive home for lunch. I could mist at 0530 in the morning and then when I get home after work at 1730, but not during the day. Would that be enough? It doesnt seem to be enough water for my pal.

You can buy a timer switch you plug your mister into.

I guess these links would help you. Some of these you have to buy timer seperate.
