Drainage help!

I have a Reptibreeze XL enclosure, and I just want to have everything prepared for when I bring my chameleon home.

I've been trying to think of ideas that would work to make a good drainage system possible..I've yet to buy/build a stand for the enclosure, so I could incorporate that with the drainage.

I know it can be fairly easy to do, but my parents want it to look nice and not like some hackjob did it, haha.

Any neat ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Eric

I used a plastic laundry tub from home depot. I use it as a planter and have the drain go to a bucket underneath. My wife is going to make a skirt for it to hide the tub and bucket.

The sink basin is pretty cool. I was just looking at those today at Lowe's. Aren't they pretty expensive? I'm thinking the one I saw was like $55. Solid idea though.

That is about what they run. I figured by the time I got creative and figured out how to modify a stand with drainage I would wind up spending the same amount or more. This took all of 10 minutes to set up so it was worth it, and it works!

You can even buy a rubber storage "drawer", cut an opening in the top and set the cage on top.

Significantly less expensive. You just empty the drawer (don't let it get too full or it's hard to walk with!).

That is an excellent idea, although those laundrey tubs just don't seem to exist in the uk

There are plenty of things you can do. I just but a drainage system for mine and it was the best thing I could of done. Idk what the xl cages looks like but I made my own cage so it would look like a piece of furniture rather than a cage. I just took a piece of material that is similar to a kitchen floor and attached it to all four corners, but giving it a downward slope which drains into a small 1/4 inch pipe. But you can also buy a cheap laundry room tub, the the ons that people usually put in their laundry room like a wash tub. They are not too expensive and should cover the whole bottom of the cage. Then just have it drain in to a bucket that u can easily empty.

I am really struggling to come up with an idea for mine. I am not very imaginative. It's starting to do my head in!

The best I have thought of is drilling a hole in the plastic panel at the base of my Reptibreeze. The weight of my plant in the middle bows this down slighty for the water to run to the centre. (it all gathers there now)

I want to sit this on a table or stand that I can drill a hole into to allow a pipe to drain the vivs base through the table onto a lower shelf.

Not sure how I can achieve this and keep it water tight. How can I attach the hose pipe to the White plastic panel? Perhaps a plumbing fitting of some kind?

I may be making this more complicated than it actualt is.

If worst comes to worst and you cant find anything to seal it with use some tooth paste, once it hardens it becomes water tight, its awesome.

Clear silicone works great!
