Don’t know what to do with egg

So ive had a fertile chameleon egg for about 7 months now and it has been very weird about a month ago it got brown and a little shriveled and I just don’t know what to do with it anymore. Ive read you could cut it open but that seems kind of risky so I don’t know what to do.

We hatched our own. It got brown spots before she hatched. We made sure to keep it in a warm area to keep the humidity up. She hatched about 2 weeks late. We were worried. She sadly only lived about 18 months. I've been there. This process is stressful. I can show you what mine looked like before it hatched. Let me find a picture. I'm not sure if this is helpful info and I'm a newbie. But, just wanted you to know that it's a very stressful lie and wait situation. Hang in there. Maybe it will come out soon?

I just asked my husband if he remembers ours he said he remembers it got spots like moldy cheese before it pipped.
