Dogs eating wild Pigeons

So my two male pugs love to catch pigeons. They often succeed and then have a bloody feast. How bad is this for them? I mean it cant be completely bad as they are very healthy dogs, but it happens often enough for me to wonder what the consequences may be. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do?

Seriously?
They can get parasites from the pigeons, so getting a fecal sample to the vet every 6 months or so probably isn't a bad idea.
How is it that your Pugs are able to catch pigeons and actually kill them?

Well there last vet check up came up clean about a month ago, and they been doing it for alot longer. Ive probably just been getting lucky.
As far as how they catch them, Its a mystery to me as well! I'm guessing they come to my yard because of the dog food and our macaw food, and then the pugs just snatch them as they look around.

Well if they're healthy and you don't mind the blood mess, then there's nothing to worry about. Our dogs eat a raw diet, and the deal is "if you can catch it, you can eat it". There's only been a rabbits, but everyone is healthy so I don't worry either. Raw food doesn't stay in the dog's intestine very long, so I think the chance of getting sick from raw food is far less than getting it from contaminated dog food, which takes a lot longer to digest. Happy hunting, Pugs!

I'd be more worried about the bones. Vets tell you to never give your dogs chicken or fish bones because they're very brittle and thin enough to really get through your dog's throat or digestive tract. I wouldn't let them do it.

I ditto this. The small bones could cause damage. Time to train your dogs out of this behaviour.

edit - Id also be worried about a neighbours pet pigeon or whatever else the dogs might attack next.

Bones are brittle when cooked. Raw bones are just fine -- from small fish and chicken bones to big cow ones. No worries there.
