So can you get any colony of feeder insects to boom with dog food?

Dubia roaches.
But, you need to clean their gut for about a day before feeding them to your cham to make sure the dogfood is out of the dubia's system.
Take out the dubia you are about to feed, for one day gutload them as you would gutload crickets that are about to be fed to your cham.

Roaches like dog food. Superworms, mealworms, isopods and crickets will eat it in small amounts too.
Id give the insects a good week off the dog food and on a healthy gutload before feeding off. Longer if you can.
