Does this egg look normal???

my parents bought me a panther chameleon for my birthday in June this is what it looked like when we got ir

this is what it looks like now (tried to take it at the same angle)

does it look alright??? Please help me

Did you add water? It looks really wet, like the egg is sitting in standing water. The substrate shouldn't be too wet. The egg itself looks pretty good. Make new substrate for that egg and exactly follow the directions. Good luck.

I agree with Janet, the substrate is way to wet.

I do a 1/8 ratio of water to substrate. I know it is good when I squeeze a bit and it holds the shape. If water comes out when squeezed, the substrate is too wet.

I would use vermiculite or perlite. Just be careful when you are buying them. Companies like MiracleGro make these products and they are combined with fertilizers which would be disastrous. Show, just read the label and make sure the product is devoid of any added chemicals.

I've sometimes changed out the substrate of the eggs during the incubation process. I use a different formula for adding water than Joel does--I go by weight, one part vermiculite to one part water. I think @jpowell86 uses volume, which is much easier to calculate than by weight. I hope he clarifies it for you. We both successfully hatch out eggs but he is more experienced than I am.

Be extra careful to look at the label. Miracle Gro adds fertilizer to some products.

Don't turn the egg when you switch it over either idk how long the eggs been but they developed a air bubble and it can kill the egg

yes I read that thank you! It's about 4ish months

Whenever I do anything with an egg, I try not to touch it. I wash my hands and rinse them very well. I try to move the egg with a clean spoon although I have picked them up. They have an antibacterial/antifungal coating on them, so you don't want to interfere with the. Good luck.
