Does Bamboo Die?

I am planning on building Commah's (4m/oVield) enclosure. He has a 2x2x4 screen enclosure ready to be made into a Chameleon Wonderland!
I really like the idea of encorperating vines, live plants, fake stuff for color, etc...
And I REALLY love how bamboo looks in the enclosure, but I want items that wont rot/die off.
How long would baboo last as a ladder or stable branch?
Anyone know any other better materials to use? I'm not looking for anything wide, but strenth is key.

Thanks all.

Are you talking about live bamboo or the bamboo sticks you can get in the garden department?

The sticks are awesome. They are cheap, strong, clean, and last a long time (the outer layer is water resistant, much more so than a typical wood branch). They are simple to attach by screwing a small stainless steel screw into the end through the cage mesh.

The only potential downside from my experience is that sometimes the bamboo can be slick when new and smaller chams can have trouble gripping the larger diameter branches.

Yeah I meant the sticks. I'm glad to hear that they are good. I love how they look, and they work well with the cage i'm working with.
I'll deff keep aware of the slickness, I'm not really using them for climbing; i'm using them more as decoration; BUT you can never predict where the little guy will climb!

Good info on the bamboo. Set up my new cage awaiting arrival on my new Cham. I cut some of my own bamboo from the back yard and put it in cage. Looks fantastic.
