I'm just curious if anyone captive breeds Calumma parsonii parsonii in SoCal. I'm throwing around the idea of maybe trying to get one but would like to talk to a very experienced person and maybe take a look at them in person first. Thanks in advance.

Not successfully up to this point, at least that I or even the rest of the forum are aware of...

CB parsonii are too few and way too far between.. There is hardly a handful of people who have successfully bred and hatched parsonii parsonii in the entire world...

They're around, but I know they're very hard to come by. With parson's, it's really all about networking and knowing the right people within that small group of keepers. Good luck on your quest though.:) PM me and I might be able to point you in the right direction.

Thank you everyone for the replies and education. After much research, I realize I'm unable to give them the type of space that they require, so I guess this dream will have to hold off for now.

I'd still love to see one in person though. I can't fathom a full grown size. Maybe someday...Thanks again.

Interesting.... And are they still?

Nope. Off the top of my head I can think of at least 4 different breeders who hatched parsonii in Southern California but the only one who (probably) still has them is now against the keeping of chameleons in captivity. For the record, though, Ken Kalisch and Ardi Abate were the first to hatch each subspecies outside Madagascar. Linda Davison of Sticky Tongue Farms hatched close to one hundred of them, also.

The other half wants Frisian horses and large pastures for our dream home. Me? I want a green house and Parsonii Parsonii and to hopefully breed them.

Last one I saw for sale was 2,500$ Full grown mind you can't find what site it was. I don't know if this is an example of the average prices but it burst my bubble for sure.

I also REALLY want Brookesia micra, a couple hundred would be nice :) I highly doubt they'll ever be for sale in the next few decades. But, I can dream :)

Thanks for the history lesson Kent, 100 parsonii is impressive! I couldnt even imagine...

I hope someone has that kind of success again in the future.

I was aware of these, just no one whos had such success in the states. Prior to Kents comment that is..

I actually know of about another half dozen breeders who have hatched them. However the last time they were hatched in the USA was around 2000 and I have not seen them since. I actually got the opportunity to see Ed Martinez
baby that he hatched out. He is from Northern California though.

There is someone who has hatched some out within the last year in southern california I believe
