Hello i saw this on AOL and have been told by many people the world will come to an end and i think its a load of nothing to worry about. What do you think? Do you believe the world will end because of this asteroid?


I know see it says it will be like 100,000 years from now or less depending on how much it weighs i think. Still do you think it will lol in a couple hundred or thousand years?

I don't know what you are talking about. I think you forgot to post the link stefan. But either way... the world is over due for some huge disaster unfortunately. Whether its a worldwide earth quake or an asteroid. But you can't just sit there and worry. Live your life like there is no tomorrow and you won't have missed anything if tomorrow never comes.

That's a good way to look a things Andrea..However i think that our world has had it's fare share of disasters as it is.....caused by both humans and nature(The devastating Tsunami of 2006,earthquakes,wars etc etc!!)hopefully nature and man could cut us some slake for a whilehere's hoping anyway

I think the world wont come to an end, i think eventually many people (Over half the worlds population) will probably be killed, because weve all got nuclear bombs... canada, U.S, Russia, Korea..

Or else, and earthquake, i believe that could happen Anytime! its way overdue as andrea said.

Because of the nature of my Christian faith, I do not want anyone to think I'm proselytizing.

I have studied the Bible and understand that one of the last prophesies is indeed a meteor.

As stated before, there is a meteor which has been observed for years to be heading our direction, as prophesied in the Bible.

As far as when it will happen and if we deflect it, as earlier stated, time will tell.

IMO, the impact of global warming and the state of our planet is enough to be concerned about. Focusing on what we can do to make our planet strong and healthy may be the best way to impact the future. If we make ourselves and our planet strong, we may well be able to resolve this meteor problem in the far future.

Its kinda fun to (scarey fun) think about how authorities might deal with a large astroid that was going to hit, probly fire nuke tipped icbm's at it out in space and hope the end result was no worse than a meteor shower.
Bout all we could do really I suppose. Its one of those one in a billion type scenarios that hollywood loves!
More chance of nuclear exchange these days imo. Neither one is something you or me can control. Change what you can, accept what you cant.
A cool movie I once saw is called 'Armageddon' with Bruce Willis, its about blowing up an earth killer asteroid in space. Far fetched, but great special effects.

Actually I beleive there is one predicted to come very close in 2029 if im not mistaken.

The closest approach of an asteroid predicted for future years is on 13 April 2029 (14 April in NZ),when (99942) Apophis will pass at about 35000km, one-tenth of the distance of the Moon. This may well be bright enough to be briefly visible by eye. Unfortunately for NZ its time of closest approach is estimated to be about 10 am.
