Do you think she is ready to breed?

She is about 70-75 grams (the scale broke a month ago and she was 67g). She has been showing these new colors ( I think they are receptive), I got her at a few months old and had her a little over 7 months. I have someone coming over this sunday with a mature male and if they breed we will split the eggs and I can be the local breeder or whatever and sell most of the babies (only to good homes of course). I just want to know if you guys looks like she is ready, Thank you!

Breeding at the young age of 7 months is not healthy for the female. At 75 grams (she looks small in the picture) her body is still growing and producing eggs would take the calciums from her that she still needs to mature. Also often when they have eggs to young they have egg laying problems. It is recommended to wait until they are over a year old and of a good weight. My adult female veileds have weighed between 90 and 130 grams.

I got her when she was about 4 months old so she is 11 months old. So does anyone know if an 11 month old chameleon showing the colors in the picture (didn't get a good shot of the blue but she has blue spots on her spine and a blue line on the crest) will breed or just freak out. Thank you

They will breed at a very young age if allowed. I would recommend waiting for awhile before you breed and enjoy your chameleons before you jump into breeding. There's enough unwanted veileds in the world already. Links to check out before you breed.

Hey Reptileguy,
She looks like a little girl yet to me, you should let her mature at least 6 months before breeding her. Don't be in too much of a hurry. Female Veilds will breed young , but it's hard on them.

Ok, then, I will wait a few months I guess. Om the price for keeping 69 baby veiled I already have all the supplies and don't buy feeders online so that is minus $625.41 or $904.14 if that Lazy H thing is shipping.

I still think she is big enough, would she really take it hard? She is going to lay anyways so what is the difference if they are fertile or not? As long as she gets her calcium and lots of food.

I agree with Dave above that she still looks like a little girl and not a mature filled out adult. Laying fertile eggs is much harder on them because the eggs are bigger. The fertile eggs also draw more calcium when developing. Even when giving liquid calcium weekly their calcium levels still drop. Your female is at the age where if you cut back on her food and lower the temps you might be able to prevent egg laying or at lease keep a large clutch from forming. Now is definitely not the time to overfeed her.
