Do some chameleons just not like free range?

My little girl veiled just doesn't seem to like being free ranged. In her cage she hangs upside down under the light all day, but when free ranged I cant get her to bask on the top of the ficus, she spends the day at the bottom of the pot or looking for ways to get out.

Should I offer more space to explore (vines, etc)?

First they want to explore. When they need light they go to it. Hanging upside down on the screen under the light can be bad on the nails, too much heat for a female and even a possible burn.

The fact that she spent the first month in my care with a male (the cage was huge, but they became aware of eachother the last day or so) has me paranoid that shes on the ground looking for digging space. Shes plump too. Could be because shes been eating so well, but I'm worried. I'm sure being pregnant at 4 months old would be catastrophic.
