I've just come home to find my 6m panther asleep with the tip of his tounge poking out... I opened the cage and toched it expecting him to tuck it in he opened his eye a little so I tuched it again it was dry and sticky so he's obviously had it out since lights out 1hr before, he then tucked it in when I moved and opened his eys more and looked it me, he then drank from the syringe (thouht it would help his drying tounge) hes now gone back to sleep his tounge s in but his mouth just isn't quite tight shut? Thouh hes been eating fine today i did notes yestrday a small darker patch(group of little sppots) at the corne of his mouth, possible bruise I saw him rubbing his face on a branch today as well thought that might be how he got the bruise?? he's also had the past 2 days a small black scablike mark on the side of one of his feet looking yellowish underneath, I think it is a cricket bite as it can't be a burn on that bit of his foot, could this have any connection? I stood him in warm saltwater for his foot and thought it looked a little better today.

im a little worried can all this be contacted or an I just tired and panicking!!!?

I have a Ambilobe/Nosy Be panther, he's about 6 months old and ive had him about 9 weeks. I handly him every day he seams to really enjoy it hapily sits or walks around on me often would rather stay on me than go back in his vivarium.*
He eats about 10 4th brown crickest a day or 20 small hoppers normally with a few more freeroaming about in the viv (but not anymore!) gutloaded on fruit and vegetable with Repashy superload, the ocational meal worm or wax worm and sometimes some silkworms maybe 2 a day. Crickets dusted with Repashy calcium plus everyday, I was told this had all he needed in it??*
Poo looks good dark brown with white and little clear gloop round it. Never been tested.
exo terra glass terrarium large/x tall 60x45x90cm he also has a 5ft ficus in my room he love to sit on particularly when its sunny. But has no heat bulbs on it my room is about 19-23c and is cooler at night.*
I have two 5.0 uv bulbs and resently changed from a ceramic heat bulb to a miniD3 80w uva uvb Ir basking lamp on all at 9am off at 10pm.
Cloese perch under heat bulb in 29c going to 20 at the bottom drops to 17c or less at night. Hymidiy is between 40-80 I have a mister going 15m on 15 off through the day and 15m on 45 off at night.*
Its a living vivarium with reptile friendly compost that the reptile friendly plants are growning in**the tank is in my bed room by the window the sun just catches one corner of the tank at the moment if it gets to being in the summer in full sun ill close the certens a bit so its in shade and not to hot. I live is surrey England UK.*

This was when I first did it it pretty much the same plant wise but more bushy as everything has grown including Diesel at about 1cm a week so we're getting new branches tomorrow.

Last night he was sleeping in his normal spot with his tounge in and mouth closed, could this of just been a one off, being a bit "special" kinda thing? Well Im not going to worry unless he starts doing it often,.

I don't think their is anything to worry about I've had one of mine sleep like that one night and he never did it again. If it starts happening regularly it could be because something is wrong. The marks do sound like cricket bites locust wont bite them so it's safe to leave them in although they'll eat all your plants. I don't see any real issues with your husbandry the only thing I think the supplements you use is a multi vitamin wich only needs to be used every 2 weeks and plain calcium every feed and calcium + D3 every 2 weeks. You might want to consider moving him into a screen cage at some point they tend to do better in them because of the ventilation plus for an adult male (I know he's only young now) that terrarrium is on the small side but it's a matter of opinion I guess.

isnt the tank excessively and continuously wet going 15 mins on 15 mins off. would be ideal for it to dry out between mistings

Its only a fogger running 15 mins on then off to keep humidity up not misting lots of water i do that by hand 2x a day for drinking and sometimes a shower if he's shedding or poo looks a little darker. Normaly just because he enjoys it though lol.
suplymenting I keep checking with people thats what he was giving by the breeder for the first 3.5 months and another pet shop have a blue bar male of the same size and they are suplymenting with the same thing and they are growning at the same rate both look helthy though mine is much more colourful wondered if its because the one in the pet shop is in a tank a quater of the size? As for screen tanks in the uk it is very hard to kep them warm I have an old drafty house too, but he's often out exploring anyway handled everyday and loves it! And I cant fit any bigger in my room lol,

Well Diesels foot is looking better less yellow underneath. The black mark on his nose is a bruise, he had black all along the side of his face and eye but it cleared up over the day but his nose (that took most of the fall) is still black how long do you think it will stay for? He seams fine eating and moving normally but ive seen him rubbing it a few timse is this probably because its saw??

He got himself wedged this morning while exploring the garden (closely being watched) he freed himself without my help but has a bruise by his back leg faded but still showing this evening, is it normal for them to bruise quite easily? It doesn't seem to bother him he's a bit of a dere devil lol

He looks like he is doing better. Whatever it was, it was probably nothing too serious. Maybe he just forgot to tuck his tongue in.

Remember they need a few peaks in humidity a day of high humidity and the rest can be normal room humidity so the fogger may not be needed as much as it is on.

I too think you need a new enclosure or add more plants. In my opinion for a male panther that glass enclosure is too small. I second the notion of getting a screen cage. I know several people that breed in the UK and do not have problems with keeping good temps. A drop in temperature at night is very good and as long as your house stays about 50 degrees F, then you should be fine. I would definitely look into it. Everything else looks good!

Hes just had an upgrade of lots more branches and plants he was so tiny when we got him he'd of got lost lol most people ive seen have there males in much smaller enclosures its an exo terra med xtall, and my room is very drafty old house and small couldn't get a bigger tank in. He honestly spends more time out in the house or in the garden than he dose in his tank.
