how long does it take for chams to wake up and want to eat?im worried that when i feed before i leave for work, the crickets might bother him.and the dustings might fall off too.should i turn on lights and heat before feeding?

Have you tried tub/cup feeding? Or making one of those milk jug feeders with screen in it? That way you can just toss them in and not have to worry about it. Personally I prefer tubs or the milk jug feeders because then the chameleon can still hunt the crickets/other bugs down but they are contained. Plus you dont have to worry so much about having to chase down crickets at the end of the day.

thanks that makes alot of sense:) i just thought they get exercise the other way.maybe i can feed sedintary food in the morning ie worms and crickets for exercise at night. thank you

Just make sure you give at least 3-4 hours of basking time before lights out so the food can digest.
