DIY enclosure ?

I'm planning on building my own cage I know how I pretty much wanna do it and I work for a furniture business so it won't be hard and can get it done pretty quick. only thing I wanna know is would it be ok to have it so that the sides are glass/plexi, front/top/bottom screen and have the back in a 3D background? would the front top and bottom be enough for ventilation and back and side be good for the humidity?

was planning on using something like this for the background.

Not trying to tell you how to do YOUR cage. But if it were me I'd do the door in plexi and the sides top and bottom screen. You'll have enough ventilation with the sides and top being screened and the front being plexi will give you an unobstructed viewing area and will look nicer aesthetically speaking.

You can go on You tube and find a how to on making fake backgrounds. Basically all you need are a dremel tool for shaping and a big piece of that insulating foam. You shape it and then paint it and glue it to the back wall. You can make ledges and make places to glue in plastic plants etc...

Your idea sounds good take pics when your done.

I was thinking of doing that to the sides, but the place i'm putting the cage in like a window seat area so I would think it would get more ventilation with top bottom and front since there will be a wall on either side of the cage there will be space on either side so the cage is not completely up against the walls.

I see what your saying. Your not putting it ina window seat area are you? The cage would get hott in summer months and be drafty during winter months being that close to a window.

its just like an inset in the wall like a window seat/nook area was gonna put it in there so its not out in the room(my room isn't that big). have a screen cage in it now, but its one of those tube cages where the screen wraps around it just want something alittle sturdier that has a door so the whole cage don't shake when I try and open it to put crickets in.

Make doors in various places on your current cage and place a bigger size screen over the hole and secure with wire ties then hold the door shut with a bungie cord.If you wanted to keep your current cage just an idea.I have the same one works great.

here is a picture of what I have done so far. gotta finish the frame for the door and then its pretty much done then just gotta bring it home so I can add the rest of the vines and stuff to it.

I'm no pro and working on my first cage myself. I'd say I really like the way your going with it. Great job.
