hi there guys,
were new here we bought a young veiled chameleon a couple of weeks ago but his enclosure is not the best,
it seems to me theres not really a lot on offer here in england in the way of mesh enclosures, there is a brand on ebay - very cheap but it doesnt seem very sturdy so i thought i might build one, im in the chippy trade so im quite handy.
i was thinking of using fiberglass mesh from a fly screen company but read somewhere it wasnt recomended, i see the decent ones in the states use aluminium. so is the fiberglass not good because of the heat the bulbs generate?
any thoughts would be appreciated,

many thanks alex

I know you are in england... but maybe they will ship there... or you can find something like it near you... but take a look at this post.

metal screen is better... crickets won't chew holes in it. If you want you can use wide plastic mesh that has 1/4" gaps between 'bars'. this will not keep crickets.... but its better for the chams feet and more UV will get in.

If you make a search on the forum I think there are a couple of DIY threads.

thanks for the reply,
not feelin rich at the mo so the diy job will have to do, think the fiberglass mesh is the cheapest option so i think a tight woven mesh is the way, he's only small and has small crickets so the larger mesh will have to wait till he's bigger :)

cheers
