Differences in husbandry w/ veiled and panthers

I need to know the differences as I am going to take in a male juvi panther for a little while. So, basking temps, food preferences and quantity, plants, enclosure (I'm getting a medium sized flexarium) ... I'm not familiar with panthers so I wanted to see if I should treat him like I do with my veiled.

Thank! :)

I treat them exactly the same. The ONLY difference would be that maybe my adult Veileds will bask slightly, and I mean slightly higher.

Awesome! Thanks :)

Should I be giving this little juvi more food since he is growing? I only give my girl 2-3 crickets a day .. sometimes none .. some silkworm/superworms and when I don't feed her crickets, I'll substitute with some veggies.

Should I feed the male juvi more foods?

It depends, how old is it? The basking temp may need to be different, especially since you have a female veiled and it's a male panther.

Panthers also dont eat veggies usually.

There is a difference in their husbandry. The panthers require more humidity than veileds. Also panther's basking temps are slightly lower, about 85 max. You should always have different level of limbs under the basking light for any cham so they can adjust themselves as they like. Panthers usually do not eat plants, but you do need them for humidity. Juvi's do require more food than adults and more supplements while they are growing. I would see how many he eats in a 5 min period. Mine would eat 6-8 med size crickets and then a few more in the afternoon. I'm not sure how big your crickets are but you will know by watching him. You just don't want to over-feed him, he'll grow too fast.

Do you think most people keep Panthers differently than Veileds? If you have a chameleon room how does one keep one side or corner more "humid" than the rest? I keep Veileds, Panther, and Oustalets inside and outside here-humidity is the same for all. As I mentioned, basking temps may be slightly different. Everything else you mentioned is simply age driven.
I actually keep Veileds, Panthers, Mellers, Fischers, and Oustalets side by side. But I guess I am lucky to have the Florida humidity. You can not create natural humidity-you can only create wetness or dampness.

Now, how would I keep a flexariums humidity up? I'm used to my Exoterra enclosure with the glass and vents with mesh on the top. Humidity is pretty good .. I also have a schefflera in there to help with that. But flexariums are all mesh and I have central air.

I do have to extra scheffleras I can place in it .. but I doubt that will keep the humidity up. Should I use a humidifier?

I keep veileds and panthers the same. If the chameleon is well-watered you don't have to worry about creating a difference in humidity for the two.

Regarding feeding...you can feed a male panther as much as it will eat in a couple of minutes at each feeding. (A hatchling/younger chameleon is fed more often thus it will give it enough to grow.)

Great - I shall see how everything goes. Thanks for the advice! Everyone! :)
I love feedings .. I'm so happy to have another cham in my home.
