Difference between boraha, cap est, and flay?

Honestly the only difference between locales, is actually where they come from/are collected.

There are supposedly different markings for all panther locales. But locales were originally created for where the panthers were collected. I think locales only ever came an actual breeding/color thing because of what we now see in captive breds. I mean what stops a chameleons from crossing borders and breeding with another locale?

The thing is there are supposedly 11 different genetic chameleons within the fucifer paradilis species... But you would never know which species your actually is without doing a genetic test. Buying locales is a blind trust game. Tons of hybrids look like pures and vise versa. I find the same is said for other locales looking like other locales even if they are both pure.

@Decadancin Ha!:LOL:
If you read the article Kinyonga posted, apparently rivers Isolate the cap est. The Nosy's (Boraha, Be, Valiha) are from islands and are isolated that way.
As for the others if they are truly species then a sexual preference among females for certain colors or something else is implied.

They do technically isolate them, but they could still easily find their way over on accident. And if there were certain color preferences, I doubt that is true. Otherwise we would have more issues breeding them in captivity.

Me too. The only reason I have to believe that a preference could exist and yet crosses could be made in captivity is that a horse mare wouldn't choose to breed with a donkey. If the time is right and the mare is confined with the donkey it happens. We isolate female chams with the sire of our choosing not theirs.
I find it interesting that the crosses of panthers are not all sterile like mules.
My apologies to the OP for going off topic.

I think crosses still happen in the wild... supposedly they do. I just think they happen rarely.
