hey everyone,
im abit confused at the moment. I've been wondering when is the right time to switch Ninja's feeding schedule.
up until now ive been feeding him every day with about 10 crickets, gutloaded and dusted with correct supplementation. the thing is ive now noticed my panther is developing a small set of "man boobs" between his front legs which i heard was fat storage, no where else looks like hes overweight.
Ninja is now touching 14 inches from head to tail so he isnt all the way there yet, should i be reducing his diet to every other day or? i dont want to change anything without proper advice as he's still growing.

thanks for your time

What it sounds like to me is possibly a case of gular edema. Pictures can confirm this. What is your supplementation schedule and what do your chameleons urates look like? Also what are you using as a gutload?

See Ya,

still working on the pics i havnt been able to loan a camera yet.
his urates look like any other healthy pics ive seen, solid and a white colour with tints of yellow here and there.
i always gut load with fresh greens and some fruits and a commercial cricket feed. i supplement with plain calcium every feeding and with nutrobal every 2 weeks. ive been finding it hard to locate the range of supplements here that i read about in alot of posts such as calcium with d3 or vitamins, i can only find it combined which is the nutrobal.
could the problem lie here?

THis is what it sounds like to me too. Im not familiar with nutrobal but it sounds like your supp schedule is in check. If the nutrobal has d3 in it then that is good enough especially if you are dusting with it every 2 weeks. D3 can quickly build up in the body so we dont want to over do that. If edema is the case you may be dusting too heavy.

I'm from the UK too. Reptivite is a vitamin/mineral supplement and you can get it with D3 and without D3. These are smaller quantity containers than Nutrobal. I recently switched from Nutrabol to Reptivite. I got mine from here: http://www.livefoodsbypost.co.uk/ Their showroom is only 10mins from me and I get everything for Lily from them. Lily gets plain calcium on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and Reptivite every 2 weeks, unless she's going through a period of not eating, then I dust everything with calcium, as she eats very little during these times.

i think a vets trip is needed, ive done abit of searching and found some information on gular edema.
because i havnt got a camera sorted i was trying to look for some pics i could use as examples and the one on this site is the mirror image of my cham, everything down to his colours. the swellings under the arms are quite large so im thinking vets asap
