Hiya,
As I'm sure some of you are aware, I have a 6/7 month old veiled male with pretty bad MBD. He is also very thin.
His dietry supplements at the moment consist of 0.05ml liquid calcium, daily dusting of insects with calcium with D3, weekly dusting of food with a vitamin supplement, and his insects are gut loaded on fresh veg with a feeder-insect supplement powder.
At the moment, his diet consists of crickets/locusts, the odd mealworm and one wax worm a day with his calcium liquid injected into it.
The problem is, he is really uninterested in the jumpy insects - I rarely see him eat them - he only tends to get them by accident when he's shooting his tongue out for a nearby worm. I'm not sure why he won't eat them - he just shows no interest at all - and I think he also finds it difficult to catch them because he moves so slowly because of his MBD. I have been pulling their legs off so that they just wiggle about and can't jump/climb out of his bowl, but he still just comes down, eats his worm, and goes back up to his higher branches again - makes no attempt to eat them.
I'd like to change his diet, to a worm based one if possible - he goes mad for them when he is given them as an option, plus they don't escape from his bowl or move too fast! I'm going to try him on roaches/woodlice etc. too, just to see what he likes - his previous owner seems to have had no idea about dietry requirements etc.
What I'd like help with, is a rough estimation of how much of what he should be eating - like I say, worms of various kinds would be the preferred option for me, but not knowing much about what he needs dietry wise (what is the nutritional information of a worm?!), would like a bit of input from people who know far much more on the topic - aka you guys!
Any suggestions gratefully received!
