i just read this chameleon unit of measurement(worms should be the same size or smaller between the eyes of the chameleon) lol.... for feeding i orderd .5in mealworms as a treat for my guy today. He is a 4month old veiled , are they going to be to big? should i cancel order or reorder smaller if possible?

It all depends on the size of your cham, at 4 months they wont be the same size. That does seem a lil big though. Order silkworms instead, they are better for them anyway!:D

Agreed, silkies and maybe even baby supers they have a bit softer exoskeleton

ya i feel that 1/2 inch worms would be fine, my 4 month old panther is eating worms that are about 3/4 of an inch and having no problem with them.

The distance between the eyes is the rule for hard bodied insects, for worms (caterpillars) I usually go by the length of the head.

My adult male Ambilobe distance from eye to eye is about an inch, the length of the head is about 2 inches. So I feed bugs up to about an inch and worms up to about 2 inches.

Length of head for worms, that's a good one. But some worms are hard and some are soft. A rule of thumb is just a sexed up guess though, so I just guess and if the chameleon looks like its eating happily then its ok. No need to cancel the order, shouldn't be too big. If they don't go down easy though, you'll know for next time. It's easier for me because I don't buy food online

I group Mealworms and Superworms as Hard bodied insects, sorry forgot to put that into the post.
lol, I think everyone does. I knew what you meant, but I was just making the point that it's all guess work really. It would be nice if we could just ask if they wanted bigger food or a different kind of food but we have to try and work it out out by watching. Also, if your hard bodied insects are a little too big you can wait until they've just shed their hard skin.......:)
