Hi, I have a gravid veiled and shes been a nightmare to feed during her pregnancy - hardly eats anything and I therefore struggle to get enough Calcium into her. Now shes stopped eating completely so I thought she would lay. Shes been doing a bit of digging, but its been about a week since shes stopped eating and still no eggs. Its day 30 - could she be egg bound or can it just take longer??

Any help greatly appreciated x

They like to dig test holes. Does she see you watching her dig? They don't like that.

At 30 days I would not panic. If she just stopped eating all together, then she should be close. Cover her cage so she cannot be disturbed.

Shes at my mums and shes at work all day so she not looked at that much - however I think my mum is worrying so much that perhaps shes disturbing her too much. Will try drapping towel over her? The only thing is how will I know shes laid if we dont keep checking her? What do you guys usually do? x

There are chams that lay on the 50th day without any problem. My female layed on the 35th. Make sure she's not seeing you.

If you have a suitable site for her to dig in and you don't let her see you watching her when she is digging she should lay her eggs (as long as there is no physical reason why she can't) and as long as she isn't past "her time". (It bothers me that you said she was digging but has stopped). Letting her see you watching her when she's digging will make her abandon the hole. If it happens too often it can lead to eggbinding.

I assume she was mated since you are talking about 30 days??
