Deremensis Trio

I decided that since my new montane room is ready for occupants, some deremensis would be great residents. I acquired this trio and they have been doing fantastic over the last week. Really eating and drinking well. Just thought I would share some pictures of the new additions.

Beautiful! Congrats on the new addition! Would love to see your room too!

Sweet! Can we have pictures with a broader view of the room??? Looks awesome!

Deb

Thanks.

I will definitely share some photos when the room is up and ready. The pictures above were all taken in my office. I had to finagle some things around putting some enclosures out in my greenhouse until the room is ready. I actually have two rooms that could be used. I can't decide actually. I have one that is my old chameleon room...well one of them. The other was my old office that is basically empty. It is basically a glorified storage room as you can see. I'm thinking the room that is the cayenne color. Just because it has more room and I could fit more enclosures.....God forbid.

Joel,
I look forward to all your posts, keep all the pics coming
I love seeing all your Chams
Dave

Thanks Dave!

I am trying to get all of my chameleon areas in complete order. It is quite the task to move all of my enclosures and rearrange.....but fun! I will get some more and better photos once all of my mess is in order!

Trioceros deremensis is a great species nice choice! I have had some great past Trioceros deremensis specimens. They were always great additions to my greenhouse. Joel are you keeping the three together as a trio or are you keeping them separate as singles?

Thanks Jeremy! They were kept together prior to be part of my collection. But, I have separated them. I haven't seen their interactions personally with one another and I did not feel comfortable housing them as a trio.

Did you cohabitate your specimens?

I only kept mine as singles alone in enclosures. The only exception was when I introduced the males and females for mating or when I was free ranging my Trioceros deremensis outside for nature UV ray's and water.

What size enclosures did you use for your deremensis? Also, did you have a particular time of the year when you would introduce the male to the females?

I loved my deremensis! My first male was a surly little man who would sit on my hand quietly for a while (no spots), then suddenly fly into a rage and bite me. I love how light sensitive their skin is...when one happened to sit partly obscured by a leaf or branch and then move, there would be a shadow from the leaf in their skin for a few moments afterward. Their color chnange was almost constant and very subtle.

Most of the large pre-made screen or glass enclosures would work out okay for breeding purposes. My female died early, however I showed her to the male the entire warm season for breeding behavior.

I recommend listening to the Trioceros deremensis pod cast done be Bill Strand and Luis Wiedemann.

Very interesting podcast. Did you find similar results with the species? I wouldn't imaging keeping them in such warm conditions would be preferable, but the proof is in the pudding I suppose. I found the parts regarding egg laying to be extremely interesting. I think the idea of using the knees of cypress trees to create a stump like replication for laying was particularly interesting and brilliant actually.

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone have any examples of the breeding/ egg laying "tunnels" or "burrows" for female Deremensis.
