Hello to everybody and thank you for making this a great forum full of lots of experience and knowledge.

I am currently deployed to Afghanistan on a 12ish month tour. Should be back in the states next year sometime. I have recently became active in the chameleon hobby. I always wanted one along with some other reptiles but you know how that story goes just never got to it. I have been in the aquatic hobby for awhile having many freshwater tanks but when I return I plan on starting up with reptiles. The internet is kinda sketchy here so I cant surf the forums as much as I would like but im trying.

So I would like to request for anyone out there who has any kind of old reptile magazines or books sitting around and would like to donate them to me that would be awesome so I can continue to learn when the web isnt available. My address will be posted below. I promise it doesnt matter how old or torn up they are, anything is better than nothing. If you send something, thank you ahead of time and myself and my future chameleon will appreciate it.

I am also a new father so I am looking for the most open and friendly breed that will go well with my family and I can let my son learn and grow with it. So any suggestions or pointing in the right direction will be appreciated.

Thanks again for all the informative posts and pictures of all your amazing creatures and their habitats throughout the forum.

Welcome:) I wish I had some to send you but everything I have is online. Thank you for your selfless act of service.

I personally love panther chameleons, and kids are captivated by their colors. They are also a bit heartier and a little more child-friendly than some of the other species. I have one who lives in my fourth-grade classroom where I teach. But it really comes down to personal preference, and the research is half the fun of owning any chameleon.:)

I also don't have anything to send you but do commend you on your courage and dedication and service to your country! All the best!! :)

I'm sure this is not the purpose of the thread, but as others have already said, "Thanks for your sacrifice and service!" Having said that, I know that the best info around that I've found is right here! Lots of the books and magazines (especially older ones) are based on somewhat outdated husbandry techniques and not the best source of information. (I'm sure you wouldn't mind some reading material to pass the down time though so hopefully some will have stuff for you! :D)

that exactly correct on two parts. firstly, Just like anybody else addicted to the hobby sometimes you just want some stuff to look at and rushing straight to the internet isnt really an option. in second, this forum is awesome and full of just about everything I need. now If i could just get a paper version or even download of the forum that would be wicked convenient. its all good though. thanks for the support.
