Demanding Panther Chameleon

My female (approx 6 months old) Nosy Faly Panther has started to become quite demanding. When I open the door to her cage for any reason she rushes over to climb out and she makes me feel guilty if I don't get her out all the time. She seems to really enjoy just sitting in my hand or on the window sill in a plant but I have to supervise her all the time for obvious reasons. Is it normal for them to be so friendly and so attention seeking? I spend plenty of time with her but I also have many other pets and tanks. I absolutely adore her but she is making me feel quite guilty for not getting her out 'every' time I go near her. :)

I wouldnt say its normal, but there are a few ppl on here whose chams act like that. you got lucky!

Well you have a friendly cham and it's a huge pain. My K. Multi is exactly like that. Always wants to be out of his cage and free ranging. Every one complains how they don't have a friendly cham, well now you see the downfall, you can't do anything!! :D

I do feel very lucky to have her thanks. :)

Lol, I know what you mean. :) I have to be careful with her as I also have a couple of dogs plus I worry that she will fall or wander off if I leave her on her own somewhere for too long.

Dont you love how they take over our lives??? lol

Yes lol. I thought my seahorses and tanks had taken over my life then along came all my Crested Geckos, Pygmy Chameleons (that I leave alone) and now Mia (my Panther) ... not forgetting the dogs of course. I was under the impression that chameleons didn't like to be handled all the time, how wrong could I be. :D

Go figure huh? you have seahorses!!!??? omg, so cool. I thought about trying to get some, but i dont think i have time for them. ntm, i already have a 75 gallon freshwater tank, 8 month old puppy, 1 cat, 1 ferret, and Kink my veiled, ntm I have a hoe coming in a few months, (I hope) lol.

I love the seahorses. They are so rewarding but you do need a lot of time for them and as they are fed three times a day it is quite a commitment. I work full time but go home at lunchtime to feed the fish/seahorses, let the dogs out and check on all my reptiles. Oh yeah and have some lunch. I can imagine your puppy is hard work. :)

im not working right now, so its not as a big of a deal. actually, the puppy, Ammo, is very well behaved. hes fully housebroken, mostly trained on commands ( i say motly cuz he still has puppy ADD). and he only chews on things that he thinks are chew toys cuz they taste like toys, or when hes really relaly upset cuz i left him. but overall hes really good and smart.

Once I start working im probably getting a dog walker to come let him out during the day. and im gonna buy a mistking so i dont have to worry about chams.
I have a timer i use for the lights, and with the mist king wont have to worry about water. so feed, wellness check everyday, and the cage cleaning and im good lol.
I love all my animals though. and the cham is my newest addition. I havent even told my sig other im getting another one. hes going into my study so he prob wont even notice. and if he finds him, im just gonna say.. he followed me home! lol.

That sounds like a good plan. I'd never leave the dogs all day unless it was unavoidable. I love seeing them as much as they love seeing me anyway. I just have the problem of Mia wanting to come out of her cage now when I'm in a rush to get back to work lol.

PS I want a male chameleon maybe next year (a boyfriend for Mia) but it won't go down well. :D I've hinted!

I cant stand leaving dogs alone if i can avoid it. i have in the past, only cuz I abso had to. my other dog (RIP) could handle 12 hours alone, not that i liked doing it but my puppy now isnt old enough. Besides, he gets sad when i leave him alone. :(
I want a panther cham, but i dont want it right now the only cuz i am about to get hoe and ill have no room aftr that. But there is someone on here who is breeding ambilobes that would be ready in about a little less than a year so i might try to get one from him.

Aww. That's why we've got two dogs for company but they still don't get left alone for a long time. :) I was torn between a Panther and Pygmies and ended up with both lol. Can I presume a hoe is a baby? It means something totally different in the UK. Lol.

Im only allowed one dog at a time. But i foster so its all good. I had to put my german shorthair pointer down last september, i had him for 11 years, since he was 8 weeks old.

I actually just saw Kink my veiled at the store and got him, just cuz. Now im addicted.
ANd while, hoe means the same thing here in the US.. ;)
A hoe is actually short for hoehnelli, which is a type of chameleon.
See the link, the pcitured hoe, Papa smurf, is the dad of the baby im gonna get in a few months.

Oh I'm sorry. :( Been there ourselves. :(

Oh lol, I was a bit confused, I even googled it and it just came up with shocking stuff and no mention of an abbreviation for a chameleon. :p OMG, what a beautiful chameleon and what a shame about the father. I bet you are really excited getting a baby. I've never seen them before.

I've had to get Mia out again and put her in the window as she was hanging upside down in her cage from the roof grrrr.

Thanks. it was hard, but had to be done. he had a kidney infectoin (4 days in the hospital) then after a week home, he began bleeding into his abdomen, and surgery was the only fix, but his chances of surviving it were slim. But, He lives on, and I have his ashes, and hes not suffering anymore. All that matters.
Yea, you wont find the abbreviation on google, just here on this forum. lol.
I cant wait to get one of papa smurfs sons. I love their noses. tiki tiki reptiles has some too, but theres are yellow and i want a turquiose one.
Its like xmas (and what makes it funnier is im jewish and dont celebrate xmas!)
Haha! she has you trained well doesnt she?

Yes, you have to think what is best for them as we did. :( It is selfish keeping them alive for our own benefit if they are suffering.

Lol, you should google it to see what I mean.

The cham looks like something out of a cartoon. I love the nose too. I like my pygmies noses although they are nothing like that and it makes the male look arrogant as it's always stuck up in the air.

Well that would be a good xmas pressie even if you don't celebrate it.

She sure does, I'm turning into a mug. She's sitting on the plant smirking at me I'm sure. :)
