When all the babies starting getting to that age when they need separated, how do you house them all and save room.? How do you work it with lights and heating.? What about food, how do you save money on that.?

Just wondering, I'd like to start breeding faly's in the future. But don't know how you guys do it with all those babies. I wish they didn't have so many sometimes. lol.

Also, does anyone have pictures.?

Lots of money and time. I have noticed its not cheap at all...o and lots of space i separate at 3 months old.

How do you house all of them once you separate them.? I remember our conversations before, you had TONS of babies here or coming. How do you work it all out.?

Hmmm...okay. I would like to get to breeding my own pair one day, actually had the perfect faly pair in mind, just didn't know with all the babies and everything if I would have time starting senior year and what not. I'll probably have to wait. If only panthers were live bearers, and didn't have so many.

This is always something I throw out there because I think for some people it may be a good option. If you breed and find that you don't think you can handle 20-30+ eggs, you could destroy a number of the eggs so they just don't develop, so you deal with 10-15 instead, for example. That said, waiting is probably a wise decision :) At least wait and see how your senior year starts off and then decide. Think also that you'll probably want to keep one or two of the babies and that you'll have to consider what to do with them if/when you go on to college.

College won't be hard. I've already picked my college. :) I'm about thirty minutes from where it is, can stay at my house, so that will be easy to take care of things that way. And yes, I would love to keep a baby if I bred. Around ten would be a lot better number to deal with, as I only have so much space to be working with. Well if I breed falys it won't even happen till....around a year and a half. Just something I've been thinking about and had no idea how everyone does it. haha.

Actually what Olimpia said is a great idea for a first time breeder not wanting to take on 30+ babies! I havnt bred yet but will be eventually. I already started some designs on baby cages and came up w/ a pretty good one, that i can fully furnish for around $15 per cage. I've been meaning to make a thread on it but just havnt had time lately. Imo the best way to go about it is have EVERYTHING you will need prior to the eggs even hatching. Your going to have to seperate some babies prior to them reaching 3 months due to bullying or fighting over food, or slow growers.

Yes! You need to make this thread, I want to see what it looks like. :) I found someone I could breed my future male with, but I would also like to have my own pair. I think that just seems a bit more special to me. It's a long term goal I guess.
