Dark Cham.

My female veiled is around 6 months now. She is almost always very dark and at the top of her cage basking. Should I boost the temps up a bit? Her basking spot is around 80 degrees right now. I know female veileds should be kept at lower temps than males.

Can you post a picture please?

Do you have a place in her cage for her to dig to show you when/if she needs to lay eggs so she won't become eggbound?

I was going to put one in in the next couple weeks or so. I will post pics tomorrow. They will be on my iphone so the pictures won't be that good.

I had the same problem with my male veiled.
Does he have sufficient foliage to hide in?
Are you feeding enough?

She is fine now. I guess she was stressed out being that my friend slept over for a week in the guest room where the cage is. She is back to her normal green.

Again...does she have a place in her cage for her to dig to show you when/if she needs to lay eggs so she won't become eggbound?

A gravid/non-receptive female can show the dark colors and drop them depending on the situation...so if you don't have a place for her to lay eggs and she is gravid then she might end up eggbound and die.

I put one in this morning. She hasn't showed any signs of carrying eggs. But I put one in today. Is 10 inches tall and a foot in diameter sufficient for now? I need to go look around for a larger one. She is not very big. She is prolly around 4-5 inches not including tail.
