Hey guys, Ludo is hanging his hind leg during basking :/ it doesn't look swollen, but should I have him tested for gout? Or is that even possible? Sorry to be so ignorant about the fact. But iv read before about this being a symptom. :(

His temps are around 96 basking, 82 ambient. I'm dusting all foods just like Fritas. He got fluids injected into his abdomen 2 days ago, he ate yesterday 2 super worms and 3 wax worms.
I know this dangling leg isn't good.
Back to the vet?

As this guy is probably very recently from the wild, I'd doubt you are seeing gout so soon. He's been through a lot lately and could be nursing a mild injury that isn't visible. Check his foot pad for any cuts or sores or missing claws. If you find anything get some Polysporin on it.

Is it one of the feet that has lost a nail? You mentioned that he has lost a lot of nails while with his previous owner. He could have an infected toe and/or be having some pain. That would be my first guess knowing a little about his background...

Keep an eye on his toes/feet for swelling... It should be super noticeable in the toes but maybe less so in the ankles/legs.

Have you gotten results back on the mouth culture? Is it an infection? If the vet prescribes an antibiotic for his mouth infection, it may address any possible infection in the foot.

I didn't get the results today, evidently my vet takes lunch from 12-2:00! I was in newborn sessions all morning, but had time to call and got the answering service. I'm going to go down there tomorrow. His foot does look swollen :( poor baby. He is missing nails on all of his feet. I mean they are literally gone. He is so sweet though you guys. I hope I can get him fixed up ASAP and looking all suave. He is a handsome lil thing. In a skinny, big eyed, nail missing kinda way.

I don't know if it is any consolation, but often times my lazy males will drape a leg off of a branch while basking. I never worry about this as they do not have any signs of gout or MBD. I don't know your exact situation, but just to let you know that I have seen this before in healthy animals :)) good luck!!

A claw recently pulled out (snagging them while trying to escape a screen cage or pawing at a shipping container right after capture) can result in a toe infection. Think about a torn fingernail. Ouch! I'm sure he's dangling sore feet.

Will his nails grow back? Sorry if that is a stupid question :/

No its not a stupid question! If the nail bed hasn't been badly damaged the claw could grow back. If the claw (the keratin part) itself was broken off but the base of the claw is still embedded in the skin it might not grow because the skin still thinks a claw is there. If the nail bed was pulled loose along with the claw it can't grow back.

I hope this is the correct description...vets check me?
