Dang flies!!

Hey as you guys probably already know its summer and their is allot of flies. The flies seem to enjoy my chameleon room and ever so often I'll hear one buzzing around in the cages and my chameleons get a little treat. My problem is they are getting into the cricket bins and laying eggs, when I clean my bins which I try to do every 5 days I see theses maggots under the food bowl and it's discussing and probably not goto for the crickets because they probably carry parasites which could easily transfer over to the crickets. The flies are pretty smart they lay their eggs under the food bowls so the crickets can't eat the eggs or the maggots has anybody eer had this problem and how do u solve it!?!

Yeah its that time of year. What type of bins are you using? I have rubber made type bins that come with lids. I take a utility knife and cut out a large square area of the lid and hot glue a screen over the hole, this keeps the crickets from getting out and unwanted pests from getting in.

I use that exact set up these aren't huge flies their like medium sized house flies

Really? They are small enough to get through screening? Are they gnats?

no they are about 3 times the size of a fruit fly maybe baby house flies the screen is pretty small but im sure they could slip through!
