So I'm possibly going to be doing some volunteer work with the reptiles are our local pet store. I know a lot of new cham owners lose their chams due to over supplementing. They have an overload of Veiled's and I am going to in to give lots of information to the people interested in owning a cham. I think I got lots of good info but anything anyone would like to mention would be greatly appreciated After taking in a rescue I want people to be well aware of what they need to do to keep healthy pets.

Mass-print a sheet full of chameleon knowledge and urge them to read it after you are done prepping them for buying a cham, that way you KNOW that they won't forget anything.

Some of the useful beginner facts should be stuff like this.

• Your new chameleon will take a week or two to get used to its new home, so don't worry too much if it seems 'nervous' and isn't active the first couple days
• You must dust insects with calcium every day (no d3) and d3 twice a month at least.
• Chameleons require high humidity levels as well as proper ventilation
• Lightly mist for 1-2 minutes 3 times a day minimum with warm water (preferred over cold) to make droplets on whatever fake/real plants they have
• NO DIRT on the bottom.. NOOOONE
• Make sure you have plenty of branches for the new cham
• UVB and basking bulb required 12 hrs a day (around 12 hrs at least)..
• NO light at night whatsoever. 12 hrs of complete darkness, anyone who tries to sell you a nightlight is ripping you off
• when you dust the crickets make sure they are LIGHTLY coated, not like (quoting another members blog here) "little ghosts running around"
