sorry..this is the second time im posting this...did in general discussions by accident...

alright, im planning on getting two jackson's chams, one male and one female, and buying two cages is alot. so im going to custom build one big cage which is really two and divided by a solid wall (i know they are solitary and hate seeing eachother). so heres my idea: aluminum (or another type) mesh, two swinging doors like a cabinet, solid wall between them, mesh elsewhere. bottom will be mesh covered with synthetic turf carpet so if theres any water buildup it can drain into a pan underneath.

a habiscus plant in each enclosure with synthetic vines, and free ranging insects on the bottom. i will have a dripper for each cage above each plant and will be misted with a spray bottle twice daily. and a uvb and basking light set above each enclosure...am i missing anything?? i want to get everything perfect before i actually get the chams! also, what type of mesh does anyone prefer and how much does it generally cost?

other cage ideas from anyone?
and minimum dimensions? (this cage is going to take up alot of room...)

My custom built cage DIY

Check out my first cage i built. I finished it this week. I have a post of it on here with all the details and i think if you watch it on youtube you can read most of the details under description right below the video

If you or anyone is interested in me building a furniture cage for you let me know and we can work together to make the ideal cage for you.

I built my first cage - just a wood frame with aluminum screen (go for aluminum over fibermesh because crickets will eat through the latter) and a hinged door. It works great for its purpose and I built it to perfectly fit the stand I had. I think it cost somewhere around $60 to make, and I had a saw and screws and things so that was purely for the wood and screen. But after that one I bought a DIYcages.com cage, which are really well made in good sizes and it costs just about as much as building one. They take just a few minutes to put together and if you have multiple cages I think they look better together since they match and the silver frame is a little sleeker than a wooden one. The cage should be at least 18x18x36" tall. That's what I have my Jackson in and I think it's perfect for him. I'd recommend covering 2-3 sides of the cage with clear shower curtain liner to keep the humidity up. Most people who see my cages don't even notice the curtain liner since it's clear and it does help. I also hooked up a humidifier to further help the humidity since they like it humid.

i build a wooden cage with aluminum screen doors, thats 3X3X6. It only costed me 90 to build. If you want an aluminum screen cage, buy from diy cages. they buy wholesale, so the cost of cages is same as if you build ur own
