How do I cup feed, can I use like a dollar tree plastic cup, drill holes in the side and hang it on the side of the enclosure? Will the crickets escape? Do I just put enough for one days feeding? How many crickets is appropriate for one day? Do I need to drill holes in the bottom for drainage from when I mist? Am I thinking about this more than I should be?

I was in Petsmart getting my dogs groomed and walked around a bit and noticed a small cup feeder for birds. It was corner mount setup with a wire twisty behind it. I found my chameleon loves it. I took a picture tonight, but irritated my little girl lol.

I just take an old yogurt container and drill 2 holes in it. Then I take a twisty tie and thread it through, keeping the ends to the outside of the cup. I then tie the cup either to the side of the mesh cage, or more frequently to the wooden bird ladder I have in each cage. When doing that, bend the ends of the twisty tie back into themselves so your cham can't get poked. Some crickets will jump out, some will stay inside, so I look at this as 1/2 cup feeding, but still allowing your cham to get exercise hunting down his breakfast.

One of our senior members makes feeder cups and they are for sale in the classified section. https://www.chameleonforums.com/magnetic-camo-feeder-cup-night-trapper-insect-trap-140231/

You can also make your own. I'll see if I can find a thread about that.

Depending on what kind of chameleon you have and the age would depend on how much to feed him/her.
She's a juvenile veiled. No hatch date but pretty small. (about the length of my middle finger, maybe a little longer nose to vent). Her mouth width is about the size of medium crickets..

All those "cups" are square.. Is there a reason for that or just coincidence? I figure I can get a 4 pack of the short tumbler glasses for a dollar from the dollar store. I don't care about looks as much as functionality. Put a few holes in the side and twist tie it on. Or I could get a small strong magnet (I can get them for cheap) and hot glue it to the side of the cup to make it magnetic. Is there a general height they should be?

Also, stupid question, why do they all have screening on the inside.. Is there a reason for this? I feel like more crickets would escape.

The crickets will crawl up the mesh. Typically, crickets don't jump off of the mesh. The chameleon will be stimulated by the activity of the insects.

They will be able to crawl up anything not smooth - so yes, window screen is great especially if you already have some kicking around! :)
