i think..
90+ degrees was too hot from what ive heard
well i cant find a way to make the basking spot cooler for my 4month old baby veiled
so i bought a 25 watt exo terra sun glo daylight lamp
is this too cool ? will he be okay ?
or should i just leave the regular 50 watt lamp:confused:

To make a basket spot cooler, you need to either raise the lamp or use a lower watt bulb. Then measure the basking spot to see if it is with in range of the species temp range needed for basking.

Yeah, just play with and see what works. There are way too many variables for anyone to say "this is the right bulb to use in all circumstances".

i have a lamp stand and its at the highest it goes and still 90+ degrees
and i only found one bulb under 50 and it was 25watts

how many months does the chameleon have to be for me to change it back to the 90's?

Note, you can use incandescent white bulbs bought from a hardware store like Lowe's, Home Depot or any other place that might sale them if they still have any left to use for UVA heat and they are cheaper too. ( Pack of 4 for like a few dollars if that).

i use just a regular 40W housebulb for my basking spot and its about 6-8 inches from the perching spot and it stays between 83-86 degrees. The low wattage bulbs are in walmart and can get packs of 2 or 4 pretty cheap. You dont have to get the basking bulbs they reccomend at the pet stores. The ones i got when i first got my cham were way too strong.

I believe its phillips, that makes halogen spot lamps, there the same size as a regular bulb. I like them for the quality of light, it brightens up the cage a lot. I used a 40w when it was wicked hot outside, and now use the 60w since its cooler(thank god). They come in 25 40 60 75 and 100 I think. But yeah just play with it, like Elizadots said, its different for every one.

no i cant :/ it sits under the cage so it stays in place
you can adjust the length of it but it's at the highest
i solved this problem
thank you all (((:)
