Cross breeding

are thier any kinds that can be cross bred i know they cant but ex. veiled and panther. like could i breed a west usambara 2horned and a east usambara 2horned? and could thier babies reproduce? also someone needs to start trying to breed jacksons to have horns that bend out like bull horns. :)

I was not aware.
They're not blue?

Female panthers look essentially the same. Predominantly Beautiful peaches, pinks, oranges, browns, grey and blacks (with lesser amounts of green, blue, purple).

Two of these are pure NosyBe, one is a pure Ambilobe, one is a cross Amib-Nosy (or Nosylobe).

There is no real difference between panther females even if they are from different locales.

and I'm glad you'll think it through better when you are settled in..smart choice on your part.
Yeah like I said, I would be really upset if I got one and had to give it up. :(

LOL! Throw one in a radioactive pool and when it comes out it'll possibly be like that. :p

(Don't actually do that.)

Ohhhhh I see.... Oh well. I guess it would be really cool to own a nosey-ambilobe mix, even if the female nosey be isn't amazingly beautiful. :)

There are a few species that can hybridize, but they have to be very closely related. If I remember correctly, oustalets and panthers can breed.

Here is one of the many awesome results that Kammers years of knowledge have produced - Archimedes (sired by Holman from Kammers)

Archimedesoutside6-18-11028.jpg

His mix is: 37.50% Ambilobe X 32.815% Ambanja x 15.625% Nosy Be x 6.25% Sambava x 4.685% Tamatave x 3.125% Maroantsetra

No special photoshop trick - this is what I originally thought was a bad pic that I almost deleted when I took it - natural sun-

And the mother of his eggs (25)- 100% Ambilobe per LLL Reptiles: Cerces

- that if the genetics are correct would give the babies a genetic background of: 68.75 ambilobe 16.4075 ambanja 7.8125 nosey be 3.125 sambava 2.3425 tamatave 1.5625 Maroantsetra

and then there is Cerces not so friendly sister- Brandy - she does NOT like the camera-

WOW!!! Archimedes is BEAUTIFUL! That is a great mix! He almost looks like he's glow in the dark in the first picture, haha.

Thanks for the pictures. :)

As pretty as they are, I don't like the idea of havIng 4 or 5 different locales in one chameleon. Comes off as being "mutty" to me.

I dont think These chameleons should be bred because of the possibility of SEVERELY tainting locale purity.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, there are many threads voicing the pros and cons of cross breeding so let's not change the direction of this thread to an opinion one.

I have a cross and I think he's my most beautiful panther.

Sorry. Didn't mean to change the thread demeanor.

Crosses are SUPER BEAUTIFUL, that's for sure.

No, it's ok! Didn't want to sound like forum police either. It's just that all these threads turn into a debate about doing it vs not doing it and it goes away from the original topic. Then the poor OP never gets their questions answered.
